House Bill 2238 is the bill that could legalize the formation of civil unions in Illinois. It’s a wonder why anyone would vote against this bill. Maybe those who oppose it on the grounds that marriage is sacred should stop by divorce court sometime – there, the only things that seem sacred are the retainer agreements attorneys get from the approximately 50% of “sacred” marriages that are ended pursuant to the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act.
